Do Rental Dumpsters Have a Weight Limit?
Yes, all dumpsters have a weight limit that depends on container size. Exceeding the weight limit or stacking debris above the rim of the container can result in an overage charge. We only add this additional fee to your invoice if you exceed the agreed-upon allowance.
Most dumpsters have the following weight restrictions:
- 12-yard dumpster: 2-3 tons or 4,000-6,000 pounds.
- 20-yard dumpster: 3 tons or 6,000 pounds.
- 30-yard dumpster: 3.5-5 tons or 7,000-10,000 pounds.
- 40-yard dumpster: 5-6 tons or 10,000-12,000 pounds.
What Roofing Debris Can Go Into My Dumpster?
We accept most tear-off materials in our dumpsters, including:
- Shingles and tiles: We provide a dumpster for shingles that takes asphalt, wood, and composite materials. You can also use these dumpsters for cedar shakes, slate, clay, or concrete tiles. Asphalt shingles can become heavy, so keep weight limits in mind.
- Underlayment: Plywood, felt, synthetic underlayment, and treated lumber or wood decking can be disposed of in our containers.
- Roofing components: Use the dumpster for nails, metal flashing, drip edges, fasteners, roofing gravel, or gutters.
Avoid placing hazardous materials into your dumpster, including asbestos, solvents, batteries, and flammable liquids.
